A note from the Gaffer…..

Hello BCAFC eSports fans,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to briefly summarise last season and to let you our plans for our second season.

Last season

This was our first taste of life on the VPG pro clubs scene as BCAFC eSports. The team consisted of some veterans of the pro clubs circuit and some exciting raw talent. We were placed in the 2nd tier of the VPG pyramid participating in the Championship North, a challenge was awaiting us. The first few weeks were tough as we struggled to find an identity and chemistry style that suited us. After some personnel changes, a formation change and some consistency in player availability performances began to improve. We finished our debut season in a disappointing but respectful 16th in the table, but some positives to take into the new season and some exciting talent promoted from the Academy. So plenty to be excited about for season ahead.

New season

After a reshuffle in the VPG Pyramid system we find ourselves in the Premiership North and the English Premier league which will see us compete against all other affiliated clubs in the VPG. We’ve had to have a massive recruitment drive to find the experience and talent necessary to compete at this level, over the last 2 weeks we have trialled some 50+ players. Picking my squad for the season has been challenging and exciting, especially with the new imposed squad limit of 25 registered players. We have recruited some exciting new players and some old friends from previous teams to add depth to our already strong squad. Expectations for this season from myself would be a high mid table finish, I’m confident we can achieve this judging by our performances in pre-season tournaments we have entered. With our new formation and patient style of play we have become a team that is hard to break down, I can’t wait to see the team in action when it kicks off on Monday the 13th Jan. Please join us on our journey to the prestigious VPG eSports Premier League.

Squad List Released

With the start of the new season approaching, the gaffer has released his squad. This is the same squad for the eSports Premier as well as the Premier North.
We are expecting to be improving on last seasons performances and results and aim to be a top half club at the very least.

Recruitment is back OPEN!

Following a change in our player structure and availability, we have decided to reopen our applications.

IF you’re interested in applying please head over to the contact us section of the website and complete an application.

We read and review everyone.

“Ive applied before and wasn’t successful” – Feel free to apply again, we wont turn anyone down without a fair go. In the past we have had influx of EVERY position so had to be careful with our recruitment, but are happy to give anyone a trial where we believe there is a fit.

The side is due to become the first of its kind in West Yorkshire and, in doing so, will be the first Virtual Pro Gaming-sponsored side to have its own dedicated website.

ESports is a form of competition using video games usually consisting of multiplayer competitions between professional players.

Bradford City eSports will have a team of coaching staff dedicated to diligent and unbiased recruitment, before helping nurture future players.

There will also be a backroom team focused on key areas of the matchday experience, including a media team handling graphics and social media output.

Paul Rinkauskas, the general manager of Bradford City eSports, said: “As a lifelong Bradford fan, I am honoured and proud Bradford City have given me the opportunity to introduce them to eSports.

“ESports is a growing market and to be one of the early teams to join is very exciting. I am sure this will provide a great platform to expand on.

“I cannot wait to get started and lead us on this journey.”

Among the first eSports teams to be officially partnered for FIFA 20, City will use the remainder of FIFA 19 for trials, offering opportunities for anyone interested ahead of the beginning of FIFA 20.

Arron Delossa, the chief executive of Virtual Pro Gaming, added: “It is great to see Bradford City enter into eSports with Virtual Pro Gaming, becoming the first eSports team in West Yorkshire.

“I wish the best of luck to Paul Rinkauskas who will be managing the eSports team in the 11-a-side eSports leagues where many Bradford City fans can get involved.

“Global eSports is a massively growing field and featuring a team in VPG will give Bradford City a head start in tapping into this market.”
